Pay Day

Alas, the day has come,
Where i stand in line,
For all i know that is to come,
Where i get what's rightfully mine.

365 days a year,
In every hours of my wake,
i work my bones without a fear,
for every penny that i will make.

The heat of the Sun scorching my back,
with sweat from my brow falling like rain,
it burns red hot at the back of my neck,
but through all these years I feel no pain.

we are all labours of life,
working hard just to survive,
but never once did we deprive,
from food and shelter to our children and wife.

henceforth comes the day we wait,
for once it never comes too late,
we hold our hands out, and say,
a nice meal we will feast today.
